Why
Belize?
Why this tropical country in Central America that is slightly smaller than Massachusetts? With a population of half a million people and a GDP rating of 182, they are technically a 3rd World Country. They were once part of British Honduras and English is their second language. The exchange rate is 2:1, American dollar to Belize dollar, and travel from the U.S. is quite easy. And most importantly, because God wants to bless them!
Fifteen years ago, Wellspring Community Church decided to partner with Riverhills Church to take a group to Belize on a mission trip. Riverhills already had an established team that consisted of a medical team and a construction team that build homes and made repairs. Our church decided to help with technology and installed a computer lab in a local school. We continued this work for the next 7 years and installed hundreds of computers in schools in the Corozal District.
The tradition lives on with Compassion Belize! We are now operating a food pantry, supporting bible studies, helping with house repairs, contributing to medical needs, and working to establish an entrepreneurial and ministry program.
